Cantera Los Serranos and magnesite deposit (Albatera, Alicante)

warned last month in one of the forums was to leave mineralogical vacation the second half of July to Benidorm, and would be interested in going to bite somewhere, several colleagues offered to take me snacks, including Honorius, and later in July. Honorius I accepted the invitation and was to call him if I could approach the area of \u200b\u200bracer, also fell in July to call if taxes to Finestrat in search of the doubly terminated quartz, in the end, I could not go.
the end, I left a morning off to go to itch, and in advance, Honorio to be called somewhere to go for some rocks. Hondón stayed at the monks, and after giving me directions on how to get there, we agreed to be in a restaurant on the outskirts of town on Sunday 25 at 8 am.
At 7 am on that Sunday, we set off from Benidorm to the hollow of the friars, without loss journey racer to reach where we got up the mess a little pointless, but in the end, we learned to get the restaurant where we had been, although with some delay. After greeting and share several minutes of conversation, we set off towards the quarry "Los Serranos", located in the Black-Headed place in the municipality of racer. Quick Tour to take some pictures and know this mythical quarry which has gone very good pieces, since there was very little interest by the time taken without moving the field.
We went then to a deposit of magnesite. This site is located 1 km before arriving at the quarry "Los Serranos". In the Sierra de Crevillente is a cutting depth to get these copies, located in the ravine to the right of the road leading to the quarry above. In theory, the clearing is within the term of Orihuela but the outcrop crosses the boundaries of Orihuela and racer, making it difficult to place it in a single term.
Magnesitas that for some time were thought Pistomesitas by the amount of iron that has a different crystallization of this species that occurs in hexagonal crystals of a brown or black on a matrix of gypsum. We spent the rest of the short time available for chopping, and although the sun hit us squarely and without any shadow, there were two Magnesitas taking all morning.
At 11 and a half more or less abandoned the field to go to the restaurant where we had been in the morning, since there were to pick my parents. We got there quickly, take something and go, Honorius gave me a box of minerals from the area and thanked him and when I come back here to thank him publicly.

Solminihac Minister of delivery that replaces the viaduct details the bridge collapsed Rio Claro

During his visit to the Region of Maule, the holder of the MOP announced that the new structure will start construction in May 2011. In parallel, the Secretary of State announced the contingency plan that will operate on Route 5 south for the weekend Bicentennial Independence Day.

Public Works Minister, Hernan de Solminihac, today visited the stretch Route 5 South affected by the collapse of the bridge over the Rio Claro (in the Region of Maule), after the earthquake of 27 February. In the field, the authority announced the construction of a new viaduct, three tracks, which will replace the collapsed structure.

The old bridge, built in 1870, had two lanes in each direction and allow vehicle traffic from north to south. After the earthquake, the structure was completely destroyed, so that the concessionaire Autopista del Maipo (by the award of the Santiago-Talca) had to demolish it and convert the parallel bridge, which remained standing, in both directions.

As explained by the Minister, the new bridge will be 124 meters long, is located in the same place as the old bridge and will have three tracks. "The old bridge was only two lanes. The new bridge will increase to three roads. Thus, we are not only restoring the damaged, but rebuilt with better standards, as we instructed the President Sebastián Piñera, "he said.

is how the structure will have seismic reinforcement as beams and ceilings. The start of construction is referred to by January next year and construction is expected to last 16 months.

Contingency Plan

Due to the diversion created by the collapse of the bridge over the Rio Claro, for the weekend Fiestas Patrias (17, 18, 19 and 20 September) is expected to this point Route 5 presents a mixed picture for motorists.

"The traffic in this sector will be difficult, as passing motorists to travel from two to only one track in each direction, generating Atocha in this area," said De Solminihac.

For this reason, the minister announced that the MOP, together with police and the concessionaire Autopista del Maipo, coordinated a contingency plan to meet the exit of tourists from the capital to the area affected by the earthquake.

The plan envisages that 16 and 17 September, the transit through the bridge east river course is only for vehicles traveling southbound. Those traveling by road to the north should use a detour between Molina and Camaro, marked by police.

For the return of tourists, 20 September, the traffic court will operate in reverse, from 11:00 am to midnight.

"This traffic management allows us to unpack the bridge area. However, we appeal to users plan their trips, "said the minister.

We spent much of the day and may take some fluorite that were not bad for a pretty deep hole in the wall and a doubly terminated quartz millimeter in another area. Finally, we descended toward the Llisu coquera, just below the "firing squad", and was where we caught most of the pieces that we take home, so yes, quite small, but pestles. We were there until it was seven o'clock in the afternoon, time to go. We charge the stones and tools and we marched to the car to put towards my house, which arrived after about forty minutes or so, where we develop all bitten by the two pieces and cleaned up a bit.
