Tunnel --- The Cadaval AS-III (Riaño, Asturias) --- Mina

few months ago that construction of this tunnel 1,143 meters in the process of splitting of the old road of "The Tunnels" (AS-17) and becomes the future AS-III highway connecting the industrial fabric and Siero Llanera with Nalón basin.

Last Sunday, I had the afternoon off, so, I took my bike and went up there are just 8 miles from my house. Very near the tunnel could not pass as they had surveillance but just below, where, fortunately, the guards could not see that area was the dump where they stored all the debris pulled from the blasting of the tunnel. I left the bike parked on the side and my bag went to the dump in search of something interesting after a while looking, removing small stones, stone size appeared large that the surface had a small pocket of only 5 x 2 cm ankerite crystals of a whitish hue that does not exceed 5mm, I reached for the backpack, I took the pot, chisel, gloves and goggles and I got the small pocket, wrapped it in newspaper and put it in my backpack.

I kept looking to see if there was something else and then leaving a few stones, I came across another boulder of very large and seemed to have an oxide layer on a site that seemed to shine, watching it, I discovered that was not rust was a brown Ankerite plate and right next to a layer of calcite of a caramel color that not exceed 3 mm. For some, this finding does not mean anything, but I was so happy, at last, after all, with something I left for home after a day of search haha.

Then, as always, I put some pictures of the output. Parts just put 2 photos that I have some problems with the camera, when solved, hang the rest. Kicking

Pozu --- Barros (Langreo, Asturias) ---

These mining facilities are located outside bar just beside the cemetery. In the Asturian town of Langreo.

Felgueroso was deepened by brothers and belonged to the Brothers Felgueroso who joined Duro Felguera.

I have no more information on these old facilities, if anyone knows any other information, to please contact me.

Fluorite: A century of mining in Asturias

With luck this Saturday have time, I went to the store Oviedo José Ramón García to acquire this magnificent work on the Fluorite mining on my land.

Taking this opportunity, I took him to see his great collection, highlighting parts of Asturias, especially Fluorite from the various fields of Asturias, but without neglecting the other parts, a superb collection from my point of view, which reveals a great effort to gather all the cole
ction worthy of a museum. I was speechless.

is a monograph on the mineral species that exceeds five hundred pages, profusely illustrated in full color. It is built on an extensive and comprehensive literature search (Historical Archive of Asturias, Oviedo Mine Head, School of Mining Engineering of Oviedo and Madrid, private files, etc.) Accompanied by an extensive field campaign, as well as references provided by active players and their descendants, mining companies, workers and technicians who made possible these farms.

In the book emphasizes the purely aesthetic, the intrinsic beauty of the selected specimens, the aim of reaching the vast majority of the mineral species that accompany each of fluorite deposits.

The photographic section is represented most renowned professionals nationally and internationally (Jeff Scovill, LD Bayle, F. Pina, JM Sanchez, Joaquim Callan, Joan Rosell, etc.). For its preparation has benefited from a broad representation of individuals scattered in various collections, both domestic and elsewhere.

aim is also to not be forgotten the details of the mining work, which was an important stage in the economic development of Asturias and, above all, do not miss his legacy so that future generations know and appreciate the effort and determination of their real actors.

Braña'l Ríu (Langreo, Asturias) ---

HUNOSA, THE MINING ECOLOGY.

few months ago leaving a budget of 5 million euros for the reforestation plan of former mining land in the municipalities of Langreo, San Martín del Rey Aurelio, Mieres and Aller. In the former open pit mines: The Braña'l Ríu, La Matona, Mozquita, L'Abeduriu, San Víctor, El Cantil and Coto Bello. Cover 3,000 hectares, planted 1.2 million trees.

The plan started with an investment of 394,853 euros in the old mines of the Braña'l Ríu, the project began with the reforestation of 50 hectares of the 138 that occupies the old farm, by the Tragsa company contracted by Hunosa. Planted five different plant species: Pinus pinaster, birch, alder, holly and laurel, which are less demanding and thus suitable for this type of terrain.

These actions will help to restore land damaged by mining, but also will have other environmental effects, as well as the elimination of 31,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide, the gas that contributes to greenhouse gases in the atmosphere within 15 to 20 years. Also covers use wind energy by a wind farm, but for now are only theories.

Yesterday I approached the old workings of the Braña'l Ríu to browse that and take some pictures, I put below.

Pozu Lláscares, Candin II or San Enrique (La Felguera, Langreo, Asturias)

Lláscares El Pozo (popularly known as the Well Candín II and as the San Enrique Pozo) is a mining operation still located on the outskirts of La Felguera, in the Asturian town of Langreo, and belonging to Hunosa. History

Candín Situated along the river, Well Lláscares is located in the area of \u200b\u200bCandín and Pajomal Valleys, where there are the first data and studies by Gaspar Melchor de Jovellanos about hard coal in the late eighteenth century, when this operation was not yet booming, as would happen years later during the nineteenth century. This area is exploited by both coal continuously for more than a century. Before construction the existing well in 1930, already existed in the same spot mine entrances with small coal mines, including retaining a stack of 1920 and workers barracks of the decade. Among his historical data, features a coal mine explosion in 1944 in which three miners died, although not the only life which has become the well, which is regrettably common in vertical mining. In 1962 there was a miners' strike which was the result of filming the short "A heel strike" in 2007.

Description
The current Lláscares Pozo is deeper than 600 meters. Situated along the river Candín, beside what was the Factory La Felguera, along Coal Road 1842, and with the ways in which circulated the third rail peninsula, Langreo Railroad began to deepen in the 1930's by the company Carbones de Langreo and Siero. From the beginning of this is the building of the fan room. The buildings that make up the rest of the site are the headframe of 1933 and expanded in the sixties, the old warehouse and machine shop in 1934, another store in 1940, office 1942, house cleaning, 1957, another house Machine Shed 1961 and 1963 shipment, plus an antique fireplace, 1920. Some of its buildings are characterized by circular windows and gables holes topped by arch, thus influence of neoclassicism. It is known as the Well Candín II because nearby is a well Candín name.

El Pozo is part of the "industrial archaeological" featuring the Steel Museum of Asturias, located nearby.
